Parenting language that we all learn quickly… When a parent says they’re “going to the bathroom,” it rarely means a quick trip to take care of business. It means quiet. It means no questions. It means just a brief pause from the constant noise of everyday life.
🚨 Public Service Announcement for Parents
If your children follow you to the bathroom, sit outside the door talking to you, or slide toys underneath while maintaining direct eye contact through the crack… this message is for you. There is, unfortunately, no proven solution to this phase of parenting.
Locking the door may escalate the situation. Hiding will be discovered.
The only known intervention is a willing spouse or partner stepping in and taking over full duty during this sacred time. If that support is unavailable, hang in there, one day they will stop following you, even if today is not that day.
