Easy Finger Foods for Toddlers

The goal is simple: easy foods they can hold, explore, and enjoy. Keep it stress-free and let them discover what they like, it makes mealtime smoother for everyone.

Okay okay, so we know that feeding toddlers may be a bigger challenge than it should be, but that doesn’t mean we have to resort to giving in to the junk and sugar. It also doesn’t need to be complicated, especially when busy schedules, picky phases, and little attention spans enter the game. Quick finger foods not only make meals easier, but they help little ones build motor skills, independence, and confidence. (Plus less dishes when silverware isn’t involved!)

Some of our favorite go-to quick options include:

  • Chicken Nuggets and French Fries or Tater Tots (anything with ketchup is a winner in our house)

  • Fresh Fruit (blueberries, grapes, raspberries, orange slices, sliced apple, strawberries, etc.)

  • Veggie Sticks (of course you’ll need dip, and be sure they are easy to chew)

  • Applesauce/Fruit Pouches

  • Crackers, Cheese Slices or Cubes, and Sliced Sandwich Meat/Cured Meats

  • Pita and Hummus (anything with dip)

  • Corn Dogs

  • Baked egg bites (again insert ketchup for the win)

  • Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

  • Assorted Nuts

  • Teddy Grahams or Graham Crackers

  • Pretzels

  • Pop Corn

It doesn’t need to be complicated when we break it down to little hands that are still figuring it all out and just need a snack time or a quick lunch. The goal is simple: easy foods they can hold, explore, and enjoy. Keep it stress-free and let them discover what they like, it makes mealtime smoother for everyone.

My kids love to “sample”, so when cooking dinner, my husband and I will offer samples and they flock to it! But once we put it on a plate at the dinner table, its game over! It doesn’t matter how to eat it, it’s just important that they are eating good foods and not only processed junk that may be ‘easier’.

Keep it up mama’s. You’re doing great!

She believed she could and she almost did, but then someone asked her repeatedly for a snack and she lost track of what she was doing.
