Play Board Games

Playing board games with a kids is not always peaceful.

There are rule reminders.
Dice flying across the room.
Competitive emotions.

But there is also so much learning happening.

For birthdays and holidays, we’ve started gifting new board games each time. It’s slowly building our collection and giving us new ways to connect.

We play kids Yahtzee often, and recently my 3-year-old started recognizing which dice he needs to keep — on his own. That moment? Amazing.

We also added travel Monopoly, and both kids picked up on it so quickly. Counting, taking turns, problem-solving, patience — it’s all happening without worksheets or pressure.

Board games are such a simple way to introduce early problem-solving skills before school age. They build focus. They build confidence. They build resilience when things don’t go their way.

And just like I shared earlier this week — it’s another way to drown out the noise.

Phones down.
TV off.
Just us at the table.

It may not always be calm.
But it’s worth it!
