As moms we wear many, many hats — caregiver, chef, comforter, planner, scheduler, emotional support wizard…and so much more. And while we’re busy taking care of everyone else, we often forget ourselves.
Here are seven small things that make a big difference:
Take a 15-minute walk each day with no distractions to give your brain a little reset
Write 3 things that you are grateful for in your life
Carve out some time to spend time with your loved ones
Treat yourself to your favorite snack, meal or drink
Rest your brain and pick at least one day each week to stay off of all social media
Keep it interesting and pick up a new hobby or skill
Jot down your unfiltered feelings into a journal, make goals, write down some jokes or a funny poem of where you are at in life. (Amazon has some great ones)
We need to be sure and take care of ourselves so that we can show up with more patience, clarity, and energy. We are the glue and the whole house feels it when we aren’t at our best. I know for me personally I feel a certain sense of guilt when I take time to myself, but my wonderful husband always reminds me to take as much time as I need to myself and I do the same for him. Reset time should never include errands, a quick shower (your first in days), or anything with constant interruptions.
I have found that being able to write down my feelings unfiltered is some of the best escape. Hopefully you find the same!
Never stop taking care of yourself mama!
